This took me back to my youth; lost, unable to conform to any job, desperate to fit in, to succeed. That feeling is terrible, and you captured it perfectly. Well done.

Thank you! At 40, I still don't feel like I fit in with any "real job," but I do what I have to do.

Some people believe that fiction is false, not fact, and not true, and some, like Gaiman, believe that fiction is a "lie that tells the truth." But after reading this fantastic soul-stirring story, you proved that only in fiction can we find the "honest truth" that most of us, unfortunately, are denying in reality. Thank you 🙏

This was such lovely commentary to read this morning, Angel! I agree, this story is truthful, and it's a harsh truth—one that triggers even me! I've been subject to the reality that's influenced the writing of this story, along with everyone I know and love. In that way, it's universal horror, and I can think of nothing more terrifying than that. Thank you, as always, for your kind words!

"Can you please punch me in the face? Right here in the hallway, I don’t care. Just make sure you hit me hard enough to knock me out."

I imagined one of my superhero characters being asked this, and her responding: "ARE YOU CRAZY?"
