CHOOSE YOUR OWN MINDFUCK: A Night in Eighth Block Tower (A51)
Bedlam Bible fans! Explore the Eighth Block Tower! Choose your fate! Don't succumb to the huummmmmmmmm...
You’ve chosen to enter Lynda’s apartment…
You push open the door, labeled ‘518,’ and see the place is in absolute shambles. There’s dirty clothes, books, and empty candy wrappers in large piles all over the floor, and by the looks of things, it’s been this way for quite some time. There are little paths that lead to the different rooms of her apartment—the kitchen, the bedroom, the bathroom—but these ‘paths’ are just areas that have less shit piled up on it than the rest of the floor. The only visible patches of carpet are covered with tiny bits of cat food, as if she feeds her cat by tossing handfuls of kibble randomly throughout the place.
Only a single bulb of light illuminates the room, perched atop a shade-less lamp, resting on an end table against the far wall. Immediately a putrid stench fills your nostrils, something akin to death. You almost turn to ask her what it is, but decide against it. You don’t really care. One quick look around her apartment, then you’ll be gone. The stench is her problem.
Within a minute, you find the cat, sleeping peacefully on a tattered couch. Slightly annoyed, you point the cat out to Lynda, but she has a confused look on her face.
“Isn’t that your cat?” you ask, feeling dumb for even asking.
She tugs at her hair and smiles. “Yes, of course, silly. It’s not yours!”
“No, I mean, isn’t that the cat you’re looking for?”
She just stares at you, her eyes flickering like a flame in the wind.
After a few awkward seconds, you speak up again. “The one that went missing?”
“Missing!” she says, almost yelling the word. She walks towards the cat, then scoops it up in her arms. “Baby would never leave me.”
She looks up at you, tugs nervously on the ends of her long blond hair, then smiles once again. You just stare back at her, stone faced and silent. You aren’t sure what exactly the two of you are doing, but the moment is awkward, so you don’t keep it up for too long.
“I’m not even going to argue with you. This whole thing is insane. It’s about time I left, anyway,” you say, but before you can head for the door, your energy depletes all in an instant, like a car that’s run out of gas. This isn’t normal for you, to become tired so quickly. It never sneaks up on you like this. You suspect something inside her apartment is causing you to lose consciousness, perhaps the stench that hit you when you first walked through the door…
You yawn, and she smiles even bigger than before. She has twice as many teeth as a normal mouth, resembling some stalking creature, an animal—a wolf.
Your eyelids grow heavy as you count her every tooth.
“Why don’t you lie down, sleepyhead,” she says, taking you by the arm and guiding you to the couch. “You can take a little cat nap with me and Baby. It’ll be fun!”
You shake your head and try to push her away, but in your weakened state, you can hardly even form words.
“No… no…,” is all you manage to say.
She lays you down on the couch, then snuggles up next to you. She drapes your arm around her and purrs.
“No, really…,” you stammer. “I’ve got to go now…”
“It’s fine!” she shouts, seeming angry now. “No funny business! I promise! I just have trouble sleeping, and… well, a warm body helps.”
You don’t want to sleep, but you have been awake for many hours, and it’s been a long day, to say the least. You finally give in and shut your eyes.
“I feel like you’re judging me,” she said, but you’re too tired to respond.
As you nod off, you think of what the morning will be like. So awkward. You’ve experienced women like this before. It’s a trap. She’ll find a way to keep you there until the afternoon, until the evening, until nighttime, until the next morning, and the morning after that… You decide it best to power nap, just enough rest to restore some energy, then you’ll sneak off sometime in the middle of the night, long before she ever wakes up.
You pull out your cell phone and set an alarm…
